Nu bleu I
2026
Painting
60 × 73 cm
With « Blue Nu I », Geoffrey Bouillot revisits the tradition of the nude in the history of art through his characteristic geometric language. Made with acrylic paint, the work decomposes the figure into structured volumes and facets, transforming the body into an almost sculptural construction, between presence and abstraction. The dominant blue brings a dimension that is both cold and contemplative, reinforcing the atmosphere of restraint and modernity. Through this approach, the artist engages in a dialogue with the great masters of the 20th century while proposing a contemporary reading of the body, based on the simplification of forms and the tension between matter and image. As the artist explains: « Matisse is the artist who awakened my interest in art, and his series of Blue Nudes is among my favorite works. The fragmented anatomical bodies are intertwined in a very mechanical manner, while at the same time standing out clearly against the background of metallic stripes.»
