This print by Andrew Scott is part of the artist’s famous “frame experiments” series, where the image seems to interact directly with its frame. The scene depicts a young boy suspended on an improvised swing with a tire, whose ropes appear to extend to the upper edge of the frame, creating the illusion that the object is actually attached to it.
Through this visual process, Andrew Scott transforms the frame into an active element of the composition, blurring the boundary between the space of the work and that of the viewer. This characteristic approach to his work plays on perception and illusion, giving the impression that the scene emerges from the image and comes to life.
