In Hooked, Andrew Scott depicts an elderly man, calmly seated, focused on his fishing line. The composition, stark in its simplicity, subtly subverts the scene: the hook, instead of being invisible in the water, becomes a central and tangible element here, almost highlighted.
The artwork plays on a strong contrast between serenity and tension. The fisherman's gesture is composed, almost meditative, while the taut line suggests anticipation, a bite—physical or symbolic. The artist's characteristic subtle humor and visual poetry enrich this interpretation.
The canvas print is enhanced by manual intervention, giving each piece a unique texture and presence. This duality between printed image and artistic gesture reinforces the artwork's individuality.
