In The Woup
There are artists whose signature is immediately recognizable. In The Woup is one of them. At first glance, his universe strikes you: a character inspired by Mario, references to popular culture, lots of humor… but above all, an artistic work of incredible precision.
What I loved from the very first time I discovered his work is this ability to create an universe that is both funny, accessible, and instantly recognizable. His works provoke a reaction: you smile, you recognize a reference, you sometimes find a memory from childhood… then you get closer and discover the full richness of the work behind the image.
It’s this contrast that particularly appealed to me about In The Woup. At first glance, their creations seem simple and playful. But behind each work lies a true artistic reflection, great technical mastery, and exceptional attention to detail.
I discovered his work on the street and I was impressed by the strength of his creations, but also by the quality of his execution. The mosaic is at the heart of his universe, but in his hands it becomes a true artistic language. Each piece is conceived as a work in its own right, with meticulous work on the colors, shapes, and finishes.
The quality of the craftsmanship also struck me. In The Woup, for example, they use enamel from Briare, renowned for its exceptional quality, assembled with precision on custom-cut plexiglass supports in France. Behind the apparent simplicity of their creations lies a true mastery of the craft.
When I contacted him, my desire was simple: to introduce his work to the public at Galerie Montorgueil. I asked him to send me a selection of works so I could see how his work could appeal to our audience.
Very quickly, I realized that there was something special about In The Woup.
His work possesses this rare ability to connect with very different people. Street art enthusiasts find a genuine artistic approach in it; fans of popular culture find references that speak to them, and people who discover art for the first time can enter his world without any barriers.
This encounter gave birth to his first solo show at Galerie Montorgueil in 2024.
Originally, it was simply a desire to share an universe that I loved deeply. Neither he nor I could have possibly imagined the exceptional reception that this exhibition would receive.
This first solo show was a real moment of sharing, a beautiful human adventure and a very strong memory in the gallery’s history. The success achieved exceeded our expectations and confirmed what I had felt from our first encounter: In The Woup is an artist capable of creating an immediate emotion in the audience.
Since then, our collaboration has continued to grow. Today, Galerie Montorgueil supports In The Woup in the presentation of its creations and in the development of new collections.
What particularly excites me about this collaboration is the work being done around the new works: imagining new universes, reflecting on the references, the characters and the formats to continue surprising visitors.
In 2025, this collaboration took on a new dimension with its participation in the Urban Art Fair around a collection dedicated to the great figures of art and culture. In The Woup, it revisited Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo and Keith Haring, among others, through its unique universe.
This collection was met with immense success from the very first opening of the exhibition, with many works already sold. The event also enjoyed great visibility thanks to the reportage produced by Pauline Loeb about the artist and this collection.
In just a few years, In The Woup has become a must-see artist on the French street art scene. His quirky, recognizable, and accessible style hides a meticulous work that explains the enthusiasm surrounding his creations.
That’s exactly what I like to promote at Galerie Montorgueil: artists capable of reaching out to both enthusiasts and those who are discovering art for the first time.
Because an artwork can begin with a smile, a memory, or an emotion. And sometimes, it’s that first encounter that inspires us to go further.
