Nu bleu IV
2026
Painting
60 × 73 cm
With « Nu bleu IV », Geoffrey Bouillot revisits the tradition of the nude in the history of art through his characteristic geometric language. Created in acrylic paint, the work decomposes the figure into structured volumes and facets, transforming the body into an almost sculptural construction, between presence and abstraction. The dominant blue brings a dimension that is both cold and contemplative, reinforcing the atmosphere of restraint and modernity. Through this approach, the artist engages in a dialogue with the great masters of the 20th century while offering a contemporary reading of the body, based on the simplification of forms and the tension between matter and image. As the artist explains: « Matisse is the artist who awakened my interest in art, and his series of Blue Nudes is among my favorite works. The fragmented anatomical bodies interlock in a highly mechanical manner, while clearly standing out against the background of metallic chevrons.»
