Look Goofy !

With «Look Goofy!», Geoffrey Bouillot continues his exploration of the pop art universe, drawing on Roy Lichtenstein’s famous «Look Mickey» painting. Created in acrylic paint, the work transforms the character’s head into a sculptural object, constructed from geometric volumes and facets, where the figure becomes a structure and form in its own right. Between abstraction and figuration, the composition is rooted in a contemporary approach to pop imagery, where the icon is detached from its narrative to become a visual language.
As the artist explains: «For this series Look!, in six formats, I based myself on the characters from the famous painting Look Mickey by Roy Lichtenstein. I chose to paint their heads as objects, posed in the manner of Brancusi's Venus, entirely adapted to my language.»
