Fouapa began his career in advertising, but it was during his free time that he discovered his true calling: artistic creation. The 2020 lockdown was the trigger for his career change; in 2021 he set up his studio and dedicated himself entirely to art. Street collagist and customiser of luxury bags, Fouapa explores a universe he calls «pop macabre»: a mix of irony and morbidness dressed in cheerful colors. He mischievously repurposes obsolete objects — musical instruments, tableware, gravestones — giving them a surprising second life. A lover of large formats, he loves to express himself in XXL and also draws inspiration from gastronomy, integrating visual and symbolic references into his pieces. With his offbeat eye, Fouapa continues to reinvent the familiar to better surprise us.
