Self-taught, GZUP started by tagging and graffitiing in the 1990s, before stopping... It wasn't until much later, in 2010, after seeing a graffiti exhibition, that he decided to get back into it by spray-painting an octopus inspired by the video game Wonder Boy. But seeing how effectively the city of Paris cleaned its man-height painted octopuses, he decided to stick them up high, where the municipal employees wouldn't go to remove them.
