Ami Imaginaire is a visual artist who explores the blurred territories of childhood, memory, and fiction. At the border between the real and the imagined, his work gives form to intimate presences, sometimes reassuring, sometimes unsettling, that accompany, observe, and sometimes question our relationship with the world.
Through drawing, painting and narrative compositions, Ami Imaginaire builds a universe populated with symbolic figures, hybrid characters and fragments of stories. His aesthetic, seemingly deliberately simple, hides an emotional depth where nostalgia, humour and melancholy blend together.
The artist draws on the collective imagination, popular culture and childhood memories to transform the ’imaginary friend« into a metaphor for creation itself: a space of freedom, projection and resistance to the real world.
His work invites the viewer to reconnect with an ingrained part of themselves, to temporarily suspend rationality in order to give way to intuition, play, and emotion.
