Urban Piece
Urban Piece is a work of Las Vegas, also known as Guillaume Picart, taken from his series of urban collages constructed from fragments of torn posters. Each composition is a sensitive reinterpretation of the city, captured in its graphic chaos and visual effervescence.
Removed directly from the walls, the layers of posters are torn, juxtaposed, cropped, and then re-worked in a workshop. Lasveguix's gesture is as akin to that of a surgeon as to that of a visual archaeologist. The result is a "Wall skin", living matter, decomposed memory of public space.
In this piece, the artist explores the tension between Wear and tear and graphics, between the randomness of tears and the mastery of composition. The result is raw, vibrant, deeply urban—a form of visual poetry born from the ephemeral.
