Paperboy: Child Labor
This artwork diverts the imagery of games and print media to talk about work in the age of technology. Presented on a framed floppy disk, it recalls a time when information circulated by bicycle, long before screens and algorithms.
The visual depicts a newspaper delivery person overwhelmed by machines, accompanied by an ironic message: “yet another job killed by tech”. The image humorously plays on the gradual disappearance of certain professions in the face of technological advancements.
A deliberately provocative warning draws attention to working conditions and the excesses of progress, using a graphic tone close to comic books and video games. The contrast between an old computer medium and a still current subject strengthens the impact of the work. This hand-painted floppy disk offers a simple yet powerful perspective on the evolution of work, technology, and our society.
