With «Blue Nude II,» Geoffrey Bouillot revisits the tradition of the nude in art history through his characteristic geometric language. Executed in acrylic, the work deconstructs the figure into structured volumes and facets, transforming the body into an almost sculptural construction, poised between presence and abstraction. The dominant blue imbues the piece with a dimension that is both cool and contemplative, reinforcing an atmosphere of restraint and modernity. Through this approach, the artist engages in a dialogue with the great masters of the 20th century while offering a contemporary interpretation of the body, based on the simplification of forms and the tension between material and image. As the artist explains: «Matisse is the artist who awakened me to art, and his Blue Nudes series is among my favorite works. The anatomical and fragmented bodies interlock in a very mechanical way, while also standing out clearly against the background of metallic chevrons.»
