Alien D red
- A founding icon of video games, Space Invaders (1979) marked the entry of a generation into the 8-bit aesthetic. Its geometric aliens reduced to a few pixels imposed a simple and instantly recognizable visual language that became a symbol of the emerging digital culture. This LEGO® mini-creation reinterprets one of these mythical aliens through a rigorous construction, block by block. The LEGO module, repurposed from its playful use, here becomes the relay of a collective memory that has shaped several decades of popular culture. As with all works by qargo, a QR code appears on the reverse of the piece. Even though it is not functional at this scale, it refers to one of the key characteristics of the artist’s approach: the integration of the QR code as a symbolic transmission vector. This principle, of which qargo was one of the pioneers, echoes his privileged connection with Masahiro Hara, the inventor of the QR code. Between video game heritage, LEGO® materiality and a digital footprint, this creation bridges the gap between two worlds that have shaped contemporary imagination.
