Alone Time Bronze Edition
Alone Time brings together everything I love about this series of bronzes by KAWS: an instantly recognizable work, a very simple pose, and an emotion that everyone can interpret in their own way. To me, the Companion seems to be enjoying a moment of absolute calm, lying on his back as if he were surfing in the middle of the sea.

Alone Time is part of a series of twelve bronze sculptures created by KAWS in collaboration with AllRightsReserved. Each model takes on a different posture from the Companion and develops a unique emotion, in a much more intimate format than the monumental sculptures or the artist’s famous vinyl editions.
The choice of bronze completely transforms the presence of the character. The material adds more density, weight, and depth to the sculpture, while also highlighting the precision of the volumes and details. Despite its reduced dimensions, Alone Time possesses real sculptural strength.
In this work, the Companion is lying on his back, with his arms slightly apart. His posture could evoke loneliness or abandonment, but I find it especially gentle and soothing. I imagine him on vacation, floating quietly in the middle of the sea, away from noise and bustle.
What I love about this piece is the contrast between its small size and the sense of space it manages to create. Just looking at it makes you imagine the water around the character, the sky above them, and that rare moment when you stop thinking about anything else.
I was fortunate to acquire from a collector the twelve artist’s proofs that make up this series. Seeing them together is a real pleasure, as each sculpture has its own posture, emotion, and story. Alone Time stands out for its calm and its ability to immediately create a sense of escape.
The example offered by Galerie Montorgueil the artist is a numbered edition of 50. It is sold with its original wooden box and its certificate signed by KAWS.
