Abeille Dior rose – grande version
Abeille Dior rose (large) brings together in a single piece two universes that I particularly love: that of KAWS, with its cross-eyed gaze and instantly recognizable graphic language, and that of Dior, revisited here with a very pop sensibility. The contrast between rose, black and the translucent wings gives it a presence that is both gentle, playful and resolutely contemporary.

This sculpture is the result of the collaboration between KAWS and Dior on the first men’s collection created by Kim Jones for the house. The artist has reinterpreted the bee, one of Dior’s historical symbols, adding the emblematic elements of his own universe: rounded shapes, a highly legible graphic language and, of course, the famous cross eyes.
What I particularly like about this piece is its balance. At first glance, the bee seems almost childlike, with its pink color, its soft shapes, and its translucent wings. But the black contrasts and the barred eyes immediately give it that KAWS-specific identity, both familiar and slightly unsettling.
Its wall-mounted format also allows it to easily find its place in an interior. Suspended using its transparent wire, it almost seems to float against the wall. It functions both as a sculpture and as a true graphic sign. Despite its contained dimensions, it immediately catches the eye and adds a lot of personality to the space it surrounds.
To me, this Abeille Dior perfectly illustrates KAWS’ ability to bring contemporary art, fashion, and popular culture together without ever losing its identity. One immediately recognizes its language, while discovering a different piece from its most well-known characters. It is this meeting between the artist’s universe and that of Dior that makes this sculpture so unique.
